Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel is the next entry in the bloody Army of TWO franchise and packs way more action and chaos this time around than its predecessors ever did. The series focuses on TWO man strategies that will seamlessly switch between an impressive AI or a friend. Be advised – Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel is definitely more fun with a friend and is better than ever with new customizable weapons and dynamic environments. Players are immersed into one of the most gritty co-op shooters of the year where they must face their biggest threat yet – a Mexican drug cartel to whom extreme violence seems to be second nature.

Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel is easily the most gory entry into the series, and you will kill a lot of people a lot of ways. When I say “a lot,” this is not an exaggeration. Heads burst, limbs fly, you’ll be grinning from ear-to-ear. Co-op is not only simple in The Devil’s Cartel but strangely addicting. Nothing matches that sublime feeling of you and your partner picking up matching shotguns and blowing out the brains of those you come across over and over again. Is this sadistic? Very!

The shooting and combat mechanics make up most of the story’s campaign. Players will work together in order to perform complex strategic moves with flanking and riot-shield attacks to take out all that stand in their way. Destruction is taken to an exciting new level with the Overkill gameplay mechanic, which allows you to build up your Overkill meter to perform deadly and gruesome attacks with your partner.

The grim plot of The Devil’s Cartel takes place in a modern-day Mexico that has been ripped apart by the drug war. Your characters are fully customizable and can be outfitted prior to each mission in tactical gear suited for the dangers ahead. The game’s visuals and sound will make each combat session feel like it is taking place right in your very own living room. When all is said and done, it will take about 15 hours to complete the campaign, but there is a ton of replay value to be found here thanks to all the new content and customizations. You will want to give the La Guadana cartel everything you can possibly dish out, and honestly it’s not only fun… it is hard to stop. (See a theme here with how addictive this game is?)

The Devil’s Cartel plays out in a linear fashion, and players can replay campaigns on harder difficulties in order to earn more cash to buy whatever they want such as bigger guns and tattoos. After all… you need to look the part of the ultimate badass here! Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel is not a perfect game thanks to some occasional frame rate drops and glitches and its aforementioned linear nature, but overall there’s nothing too bad here to distract you from the gloriously gory fun. If you didn’t like the first or second game, this one probably won’t do much to win you over; however, when in doubt you can always rent before you buy.

Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel is now available for $59.99 for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. This title is rated Mature for Blood and Gore, Drug Reference, Intense Violence, and Strong Language. For more information on the game, check out the official Army of TWO: The Devil’s Cartel website.
