Bound in flesh and inked in blood, the book waits for you to open it to release its secrets and once again bring the Evil Dead back into your households. Released separately in the past, Anchor Bay now gives fans the chance to get their two favorite books in one screamer of a package!

Everyone knows why these films are timeless horror classics. It doesn’t matter where you are or what kind of mood you are in, if you’re a horror fan, there’s never a wrong time to pop in an Evil Dead film and check out Ash and company’s gory exploits.

Let’s face it, the Evil Dead films have seen more home video releases in various forms than most people have hair on their heads. Check on eBay, shop around stores, hell, look under your friend’s bed, and you’re bound to find one or two copies in drastically different packaging laying around. What we’re talking about here are the best editions of these films available anywhere — bound together for one low price!

Even if there weren’t a single extra on either disc, the packaging alone would make this a worthy purchase. These are high quality replicas of the books seen in the films. They’re soft to the touch and meticulously detailed. The cover isn’t just the only bit of goodness either. That’s just the start. The pages within the book itself have been painstakingly reproduced to mirror that of their big screen counterparts. In fact, they look just as good as that copy that can be seen lying around the Voorhees abode at the end of Jason Goes to Hell. What it was doing there has been a mystery to fans of both franchises for years. Maybe the answer could be as simple as Mrs. Voorhees having connections at Anchor Bay.

Stranger things have happened.

Speaking of strange things, once you get finished playing with the screaming eyeball on the cover of Evil Dead 2: Dead by Dawn, you may want to investigate the plethora of DVD extras that await your own soon to be screaming eyeballs! I don’t even know where to begin. This set has it all: documentaries, deleted scenes, commentaries, a look at the fans by none other than Bruce Campbell himself, outtakes, TV spots, film galleries — It’s almost overwhelming. Whether you’re a fan of the films or know someone that is, this is THE DVD box set for you. The quintessential compendium!

Maybe a few months down the road another book will be added to the series, that one belonging to the third film in the franchise, Army of Darkness. It sure would look fine sitting next to these two. With Anchor Bay at the helm, I don’t doubt our final piece of the deadite puzzle will come soon enough. For now, there’s no greater collectible for an Evil Dead fan than this very box set.
