Attention, Canucks! Richard Bates, Jr.’s (Excision) next film, Suburban Gothic (review), is headed your way via Raven Banner Entertainment and Anchor Bay, and we have your details right here.

From the Press Release:
Brand new horror-comedy film Suburban Gothic is coming to Canadian audiences courtesy of Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada and Raven Banner Entertainment. The film’s star-studded cast includes Matthew Gray Gubler (“Criminal Minds”) and Kat Dennings (Thor), and this announcement is made after a successful 2014 film festival run.

Rob Herholz, General Manager of Anchor Bay Entertainment Canada, welcomes the film to their catalogue, noting that “Suburban Gothic is the insanely fun, sophomore effort from director Richard Bates, Jr. Fans who love high doses [of] thrills and laughs are sure to enjoy this supernatural comedy.” Raven Banner’s Managing Partner Michael Paszt added, “We have always been fans of Bates; he’s a great talent, and we look forward to releasing the film in Canada.”

With Suburban Gothic, Richard Bates, Jr., follows up his acclaimed horror film Excision with a supernatural comedy about unemployed graduate Raymond (Gubler), who returns to his small-town family home populated by his overbearing mother and ex-jock father, only to encounter a vengeful ghost and a mystery that must be solved before everyoneʼs lives are lost.

A spooktacular treat of a movie, Suburban Gothic features an endearingly quirky script with numerous fan favourites in scene-stealing supporting roles, including Kat Dennings (Thor, “2 Broke Girls”), Ray Wise (“Twin Peaks”), Jeffrey Combs (Re-Animator), and John Waters (director of Pink Flamingos). Suburban Gothic was written by Richard Bates, Jr., and Mark Bruner; directed by Bates; and produced by Dylan Hale Lewis.
