Sleepy Hollow Adds Aunjanue Ellis as Abbie and Jenny’s Mom

Sure, the character may be assumed to be dead, but in the world of “Sleepy Hollow” there are no sure things, as evidenced by this recent casting news for the character of Abbie and Jenny’s mother, Lori Mills.
Per Entertainment Weekly, Aunjanue Ellis (“The Mentalist”) will portray Mrs. Mills. As we’ll learn, due to Lori’s mental condition, both Abbie and Jenny were taken from their mother as children and made wards of the state, eventually ending up in foster care.
The girls believe their mother was crazy, unstable, even dangerous, and that 16 years ago she committed suicide while in the hospital’s mental ward. However, Abbie (Nicole Beharie) and Jenny (Lyndie Greenwood) will learn the real truth about their mother when new information surfaces.
“Sleepy Hollow” focuses on a resurrected Ichabod Crane (Tom Mison), who’s pulled two and a half centuries through time to unravel a mystery that dates all the way back to America’s founding fathers. Along for the wild ride is a modern-day cop, Lt. Abbie Mills (Beharie).
Orlando Jones, Katia Winter, and John Noble return, and joining the show this coming season are Timothy Busfield as Benjamin Franklin; Sakina Jaffrey as Sheriff Reyes, filling in for the incarcerated Frank Irving (Jones); Heather Lind as Mary Wells, Crane’s English ex straight out of the 18th century; and Matt Barr as Nick Hawley, an arms dealer who gets drawn into Ichabod and Abbie’s work.
Season 2 of “Sleepy Hollow” will be an expanded 18 episodes, and we should have a synopsis for Episode 2.01 shortly – stay tuned! If you’re still not quite caught up on Season 1, the Blu-ray and DVD arrive on September 16th.
