DVD Releases: It’s a Trap
Not a lot to choose from come Tuesday, January 22nd, but you know what you’re getting anyway, don’t you?
The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck (2007)
Directed by Michael Legge
Set in the 1960’s, The Dungeon of Dr. Dreck is about two small-time horror hosts whose growing popularity forces another horror hostess off the air. Unfortunately for Dr. Dreck and his co-shot Moaner, said horror hostess is psychotic and more than willing to resort to murder to get what she wants. Unfortunately for the unemployed psychotic, however, the good Doctor is a real mad scientist! Buy it here!
Saw IV (2007)
Directed by Darren Lynn Bousman
Just like when the film was released in theaters, it seems no one wants to put out anything to compete with the juggernaut that is the Saw series. Who would have thought, a few years back, that such a thing were even possible? Still the fourth entry is pretty solid and even though most will argue it doesn’t stand on it’s own apart from the series, why the hell should it? It’s a sequel for God’s sake. Leave your logic at the door and have some good fun with it! Read our Saw IV DVD review for more! Buy it here!
Swamp Thing: The Complete Series
Directed by Various
All right, I admit I’m a bit of a Swamp Thing novice, having only seen the first movie many years ago, but I’ve heard nothing but bad about the TV series that was once one of the USA Network’s only originals. The story follows former scientist Dr. Alec Holland as he mutates into the Swamp Thing and aims to rid his swamp of all manner of evil. Check out our interview with the Swamp Thing himself, Dick Durock, right here and be sure to read Foy’s “Swamp Thing: The Series” DVD review for more! Buy it here!
When Evil Calls (2007)
Directed by Johannes Roberts
Now this one sounds just weird enough to be interesting. One day a girl is walking home and a door falls out of the sky. Out of the door comes a clown who grants her one wish via text message as long as she passes the message on to two other friends, who then get their wishes as well if they pass it on. Soon havoc is the rule of the day as the whole town goes crazy. Interesting note; this was originally produced as a series for mobile phones in the UK by the same people producing the new Hammer film, Beyond the Rave Be sure to read our When Evil Calls DVD review for more.
