Some quick news is coming in regarding Guillermo del Toro’s Crimson Peak. THR reports that Benedict Cumberbatch has left the Legendary Pictures horror movie. No specific reason was given.

Emma Stone, Charlie Hunnam, Mia Wasikowska, Jessica Chastain and Jim Beaver star with del Toro helming. Plot details are unknown; del Toro and Lucinda Coxon penned a rewrite of del Toro and Matthew Robins’ original script.

Del Toro previously described the film as “a very set-oriented, classical but at the same time modern take on the ghost story. It will allow me to play with the conventions of the genre I know and love and at the same time subvert the old rules.”

Shooting is set to begin in January.
