‘Dark Glasses’: A Sex Worker Is Blinded By A Serial Killer In Dario Argento’s Violent Return [Trailer]
Dario Argento is synonymous with the Giallo subgenre. His films Tenebrae, The Bird with the Crystal Plumage, Deep Red, and Opera shaped how we think about Giallo. But the Master of Horror hasn’t sat in the director’s chair since Dracula 3D in 2012. Now he’s coming back to Giallo with his upcoming film, Dark Glasses.
The synopsis for Dark Glasses is as follows:
“A [sex worker] blinded by a serial killer in a botched attack who takes in a young Chinese boy, whose life has also been abruptly altered forever by the maniac’s actions. He will become her ally in a terrifying struggle to see off the serial killer forever.”

The 20-second-long trailer may not provide a lot of details, but it does provide vibes. Lots of vibes. There’s blood everywhere, barking dogs, tearing flesh, and lots of terrified screams. And really, what’s a Giallo film if not 90 minutes of purely bizarre yet gorgeous vibes?
Ilenia Pastorelli stars in the film as the blinded sex worker. Andrea Zhang and Argento’s daughter Asia Argento also appear in Dark Glasses.
Dark Glasses has its world premiere as part of Berlinale, which runs February 10 – 20.
