10 Horror Movies That Deserve A Sequel But Never Got One, According To Reddit

A recent Reddit thread titled “Which movie deserved a sequel but never got one?” surfaced only a few days ago. Since then, cinema fans have come out in droves to have their voices heard. There have been thousand upon thousand of answers, with a ton of overlap.

Because I love you, I have braved the trenches and gone into the depths of this endless Reddit thread to bring back the top ten horror movies Reddit wants to see a sequel for. Let’s just say we got a bit of a mixed bag.

There are also a few titles that have seen a continuing in some form (see Cloverfield), but fans still demand a properly produced follow-up that wasn’t just a totally different film retitled in post-production.

Here are the top 10 horror movies that deserve a sequel, according to Reddit:

Constantine – 1500 upvotes
District 9 – 902 Upvotes
Beetlejuice – 224 Upvotes
Spawn – 183 Upvotes
Cloverfield (Proper) – 120 Upvotes
The Nightmare Before Christmas – 100 Upvotes
Dark Skies – 98 Upvotes
The Frighteners – 96 Upvotes
The Dark Tower – 90 Upvotes
Hellboy and the Golden Army – 50 Upvotes

A personal favorite of mine from the aformentioned list has got to be Guillermo del Toro’s Hellboy and the Golden Army. Obviously, we saw a recent reboot of the franchise with a different creative team, but del Toro’s original canon is unforgettable and deserves justice. Another title I’d personally love to see more of is Peter Jackson’s The Frighteners.

Dread Central also produces a podcast by the title of Development Hell (which I host) about all of the best unmade horror films in the history of the genre. From the above list, we have already tackled Beetlejuice and The Dark Tower Amazon series.

Lastly, what say you? Which horror films deserve a goddamn sequel already? Let me know on Twitter via @joshkorngut. I’m always available to chat all things unmade horror.
