THE HAUNTED MANSION Now Casts Tiffany Haddish and LaKeith Stanfield

Disney’s The Haunted Mansion will open its doors once again very soon. In recent months the project has announced a director, writer, producing team and now a potential A-List cast!

Yesterday The Hollywood Reporter announced both Tiffany Haddish (Girls Trip) and LaKeith Stanfield (Get Out) are in active negotiations to star in the upcoming reboot.

Earlier this year we got word that director Justin Simien (Bad Hair) is in line to direct the big-budget Disney project. This news comes not long after Disney announces the script is by comedy writer Katie Dippold (Ghostbusters).

The story will reportedly follow a young family who movies into everyone’s favorite haunted grande estate.

Stanfield is in line to play a widower who once believed in ghosts but is now living a meaningless present life as a tour guide in New Orleans’ French Quarter. Tiffany Haddish is playing a psychic who has been hired to speak with the dead. Sounds fun!

The all-new movie begins production on location in NOLA this fall. What a mood. It will follow the recent Disney attraction adaptation Jungle Cruise which opens this week.

The latest iteration of The Haunted Mansion will have no connection to the lacklustre 2003 Disney outing. With all of the excellent talent now attached, our hopes for The Haunted Mansion continue to grow…

The reboot was originally assigned to horror icon Guillermo del Toro back in 2009. The Dread Central podcast Development Hell recently dove into why that version of the film fell through the cracks.

Haddish last appeared in Netflix’s comedy hit Bad Trip. Next up she stars in the bonkers Nicolas Cage meta-movie The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, which Lionsgate is setting free in 2022.
