Wyatt Russell Refuses to Replace His Dad in ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK

Kurt Russell is about as “Horror Royalty” as you get. From his roles in classics like John Carpenter’s The Thing to John Carpenter’s Big Trouble in Little China, Kurt Russell, well, he’s the man. And today, his son Wyatt Russell (The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) makes it clear he has ZERO interest in taking over the role of Snake Plissken in the planned reboot of Carpenter’s 80’s action movie Escape From New York.

Read his comments below.

Russell tells Esquire: “Although that’s very kind, that will not be happening. There will be no Snake reboot from me, that’s like career suicide 101. That’s like what not to do. I don’t know if anybody else could be Snake Plissken. Good luck, go get ‘em, I sincerely wish you the best of luck. I just don’t know how it’s possible. And for me, if I really wanted to get people sending me hate mail, I think that’s what I should do. I will not be ever doing anything like that.”

Not that all of this matters much at the moment. After all, the last we heard on the reboot, The Invisible Man writer-director Leigh Whannell was attached.

But since then he’s moved onto The Wolfman reboot with Ryan Gosling. So… we’ll just have to wait and see what happens there. Maybe we’ve officially dodged the bullet.

Again, we’ll see. Stay tuned.

Wyatt Russell

Wyatt Russell is the son of Russell and Goldie Hawn by the way.
