Scream Factory unleashes The Awakening with Charlton Heston on Blu-ray on June 15th. Extras weren’t revealed but the film will get a new high-def transfer.

Based on Bram Stoker’s The Jewel of Seven Stars, the film follows Matthew Corbeck (Heston). He’s obsessed with finding the tomb of the murderous ancient Egyptian queen Kara. He even neglects his pregnant wife (Townsend) as she delivers their baby. But the evil that Corbeck frees takes possession of his newborn daughter. Now, eighteen years later, his daughter, Margaret (Zimbalist), returns to Egypt to meet her father for the first time – and Corbeck must overcome powerful occult forces to destroy the evil he loosed upon the world!

Mike Newell (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) makes his directorial debut with the 1980 British horror film. Alan Scott & Chris Bryant (Don’t Look Now) and Clive Exton (Red Sonja) penned the screenplay based on Bram Stoker’s novel.
Susannah York (Superman) co-stars with Jill Townsend (Sitting Target), Stephanie Zimbalist (Remington Steele), and Ian McDiarmid (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith).
Claude Bolling provided the score while ack Cardiff handled cinematography.
