RED SONJA Movie is Moving Forward with TOMB RAIDER Showrunner Tasha Huo Attached to Write

There’s a Red Sonja movie in the works with Tasha Huo (showrunner of Netflix’s upcoming Tomb Raider animated series) attached to write. Joey Soloway will direct the film for Millenium (replacing Bryan Singer who had previously been tapped to helm the long-gestating project).

The Hollywood Reporter got the exclusive.

“I have loved Red Sonja forever and I feel so honored to help shepherd her story and start this cinematic journey. There could not be a greater moment in our world for Red Sonja‘s ways of wielding power and her connection with nature and our planet,” said Soloway. “She is an ancient heroine with an epic calling, and translating that to the screen is a dream come true for me as a filmmaker. I can’t wait to collaborate with Tasha on this vision.”

Casting is currently underway and Millenium hopes to sell the project at next week’s EFM.

Red Sonja is “a fictional sword and sorcery comic-book superheroine created by writer Roy Thomas and artist Barry Windsor-Smith for Marvel Comics in 1973, partially based on Robert E. Howard’s characters Red Sonya of Rogatino and Dark Agnes de Chastillon”. (Source)
