UNDER THE DOME Series Went Entirely Off the Rails, Admits Stephen King

CBS aired a three-season adaptation of Stephen King’s novel Under the Dome back in 2013-2015. And today King admits that the series went entirely off the rails.
King tells Washington Post: “The [Mr. Mercedes] characters seem like they’re doing things I would do in those situations. … “Under the Dome” [on CBS] was one I felt like went entirely off the rails because the people are doing things that don’t seem realistic. One thing that killed me was you never hear the sound of a generator anywhere. The electric power is fine. Everything looks clean. Everything is great, except that they’re cut off from the world. And that isn’t what would happen …“
Developed by Brian K. Vaughan based on King’s novel, Under the Dome followed a small town suddenly cut off from the rest of the world by a transparent dome. While some people start to panic, a small group of citizens tries to maintain peace and order, while also attempting to learn the truth about the mysterious barrier.
The third and final season sports a 60% rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: Under the Dome’s third season introduces some new science fiction elements to kickstart interest in this petri dish of civilization, but the series’ gonzo narrative otherwise runs out of fresh directions to go.
