Carrie Coon Was Afraid Of Playing A Mom In GHOSTBUSTERS: AFTERLIFE

Director Jason Reitman’s Ghostbusters: Afterlife is set to hit in March 2021. And today, star Carrie Coon (Fargo, Gone Girl, Avengers: Infinity War) says she was afraid to join the film because it could result in all future stereotypical “mom” roles.
Coon tells Collider: “That was certainly one of the things I was afraid of when I first was approached about it. I think of Dee Wallace in ET who is a wonderful actress who then sort of became … sort of the franchise mom. But Jason is smarter than that. Jason is the next generation, and he wrote a lot of fun for all of us, and it was one of the reasons I said yes to it. You know, she actually has a personality, a sense of humor and she does get in on the action, and that was really fun for me! I mean, I’m a Ghostbuster basically, which is insane! I grew up with that movie!”
The new film begins when a single mother (Coon) inherits what gearhead son (Finn Wolfhard) calls a “creepy old farmhouse,” the family relocates to the seemingly sleepy town of Summerville, Oklahoma, where science whiz (Mckenna Grace) uncovers her grandfather’s secret legacy. Paul Rudd is also in there somewhere.
Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, Sigourney Weaver, and Annie Potts reprise their classic roles from the original films Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters II.
