VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Won’t be Released Until Pandemic Ends

While WB and Disney have released Tenet and The New Mutants, Sony won’t release major blockbusters such as Venom: Let There Be Carnage, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, Morbius, or Monster Hunter in theaters until things return to normal.

The news comes from Sony Pictures Entertainment Chairman Tony Vinciquerra who said: “What we won’t do is make the mistake of putting a very, very expensive $200 million movie out in the market unless we’re sure that theaters are open and operating at significant capacity. You’ll see a lot of strange things happen over the next six months in how films are released, how they’re scheduled, how they’re marketed, but once we get back to normal, we will have learned a lot I think and found ways to do things that are somewhat different and hopefully better.”

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is directed by Andy Serkis from a screenplay by Kelly Marcel and stars Tom Hardy along with Woody Harrelson, Michelle Williams, Reid Scott, and Naomie Harris. Originally set to be released next month, after being delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s now set to hit on June 25, 2021.
