(MAJOR SPOILERS) Black Noir’s Comic Book Origins Will Change Everything You Think About THE BOYS

The Boys Season 2 arrives on Amazon September 4th. Check out the trailer below.

If you’re like me, you’ve been revisiting Season 1 in order to absorb details perhaps missed on first viewing. I found myself especially curious about Black Noir, played by Nathan Mitchell. He’s easily the most mysterious member of The Seven, but Season 1 doesn’t reveal much beyond the fact that he’s a strong, silent type–and one hell of a pianist!

And his name basically means “Black Black” (“Double Black”? “Black Squared”?).

At least we know he’ll have a larger role in Season 2, as show in the clip below.

So, I’ve been wondering, “Just who is this guy?” The Boys is based on the comic book series written by Garth Ennis and co-created, designed, and illustrated by Darick Robertson. And since YouTube is a treasure trove for “Origins” videos, I decided to find out the facts about Black Noir’s source material.

What I discovered changed everything I thought about The Boys. Indeed, the revelation of his identity, his origins, and his abilities left me gobsmacked. It’s so shocking, and likely a planned plot twist for a future season of The Boys, that I don’t dare utter the details here. If you want to know who (and what) Black Noir really is (not to mention huge chunks of the comic books series’ story arch) check out the video below from Key Issues.

The first three episodes of The Boys Season 2 premiere Friday, September 4th, with new episodes available each Friday following, culminating in an epic season finale on October 9th. The eight-episode Amazon Original series will be available exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 territories around the world, and is produced by Amazon Studios and Sony Pictures Television Studios with Point Grey Pictures, Kripke Enterprises and Original Film.
