Godzilla Stands With The LGBTQ+ Community In Delightful New Stop-Motion Video

With all the negativity in the world right now, it truly warmed our hearts to learn from a new short film that Godzilla is a supporter of the LGBTQ community. After all, there really is some love left in the world.
In a delightful stop-motion video shared by the official Godzilla Twitter account, we see Godzilla stepping away from a fight with Baragon so he can help his son, Minilla, who is clearly experiencing gender identity issues. This two-minute short is officially titled Coming Out, and it’s honestly one of the most charming things we’ve ever seen. As lifelong supporters of the LGBTQ community, we are proud of Toho for releasing it.
Like the other recent Godzilla stop-motion shorts, Coming Out was created by the incredibly talented Cressa Maeve Beer, and if you’d like to see more examples of her work, you can follow her on Twitter and Instagram. She’s been making Godzilla videos for a while now, and they are truly remarkable.
We knew that LGBTQ allies came in all shapes and sizes, but learning that Godzilla himself supports equality is just the kind of news we needed to brighten our day. Not only do videos like this help to normalize and educate people about LGBTQ issues in a fun and informative way, but they also teach us to embrace who we really are instead of feeling ashamed of our true selves. And we really can’t think of a more important message than that. Godzilla may be a giant radioactive lizard who destroys entire cities in his wake, but he is also a friend of the LGBTQ community, and that’s all that matters to us.
