The last (substantial) time we saw the series on the screen was in 2005 with Andrzej Bartkowiak’s version with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Karl Urban, Richard Brake, and Rosamund Pike.

It centered on a team of space marines known as the Rapid Response Tactical Squad, led by Sarge (The Rock), who are sent to a science facility on Mars after somebody reports a security breach. There, they learn that the alert came after a test subject, a mass murderer purposefully injected with alien DNA, broke free and began killing people. Dr. Grimm (Rosamund Pike), who is related to team member Reaper (Karl Urban), informs them all that the chromosome can mutate humans into monsters — and is highly infectious.

Rated R for strong violence/gore and language, the film sports a 19% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: The FPS sections are sure to please fans of the video game, but lacking in plot and originality to please other moviegoers.
