Nope: Empire State Building’s CORONAVIRUS Siren is Panic-Inducing

New York City has been hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. And on Monday, the Empire State Building turned itself into “a symbol of support” for the medical works and first responders.

So now, at night, the building flashes red and white. Like an ambulance siren. Or the end of Ghostbusters. Or Lord of the Rings. Or, you know, the coming of the end of the world.

Check it out:

The building’s Twitter account tweeted: “We’ll never stop shining for you. Starting tonight through the COVID-19 battle, our signature white lights will be replaced by the heartbeat of America with a white and red siren in the mast for heroic emergency workers on the front line of the fight.”

Sweet gesture, to be sure. But the final results. Terrifying.

Okay, so I’m kind of a neurotic guy – somewhere between any given Woody Allen character and Chuckie Finster from Rugrats. So I get it if I’m off here. But really, if you didn’t get the memo about all this “symbol of support” business, and looked out your window and saw THIS?

“Farewell and adieu to you, fair Spanish Ladies. Farewell and ado to you, ladies of Spain…”

What do you think of the Empire State building’s Coronavirus siren? Am I over-reacting? Let us know what you think in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram
