Netflix’s RESIDENT EVIL Series Dead (For Now)

Netflix’s Resident Evil series was set to begin filming this June. But today Deadline reports the series (like so many others) has been delayed indefinitely due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
Bummer.
It was announced last year that Netflix was working on a TV series based on the ever-popular franchise with reports saying that the series would consist of eight one-hour episodes.
Again, these episodes were set to begin prepping in April to shoot this June through October with South Africa expected to be the main production hub.

Neither a showrunner or cast had been announced but we did hear that the Netflix series would “keep the basic premise” of the games and will explore the dark inner workings of the Umbrella Corporation and the new world order caused by the outbreak of the T-virus.

The series was set to be a Netflix global original with German production/distribution company Constantin behind the scenes. The plan was to expand the universe and deepen the existing mythology but keep the basic premise, which served as a setup for the film franchise.
