During these days of self-quarantine and social distancing, genre fans are looking for uplifting, underrated horror movies to consume. On “This Day in Horror History”, we celebrate one such flick: Black Sheep (written and directed by Jonathan King) was released on this day in 2007. If it’s been a while, or you’ve never experienced the horror-comedy out of New Zealand for yourself, check out the trailer and synopsis below.
Synopsis:
Sheep-fearing Henry (Nathan Meister) returns to his brother’s (Peter Feeney) New Zealand farm, hoping his sibling will buy out his share of the property. However, what he finds are genetically altered sheep that prey on humans and turn their victims into undead, woolly killers. Shear madness ensues as Henry, an animal-rights activist (Danielle Mason) and a farmhand (Tammy Davis) set out to stop the rampaging animals.
Trivia:
Special effects were done by Weta Workshops. They also did the special effects for the Lord of the Rings trilogy. (Source)
