George Miller Wants FURIOSA Spin-Off To Shoot with Anya Taylor-Joy in 2021
George Miller has a Mad Max: Fury Road spin-off in the works based on Charlize Theron’s warrior Imperator Furiosa. And today we hear via Variety that Miller been meeting with names including Anya Taylor-Joy for his Furiosa spin-off, which he hopes to start shooting in 2021!
Mad Max: Fury Road begins years after the collapse of civilization when the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.
It was directed by George Miller from a screenplay he co-wrote along with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller also produced along with Doug Mitchell and PJ Voeten. Junkie XL provided the score. Warner Bros. Pictures released it back on May 15, 2015.
It stars Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky with Charlize Theron as Imperator Furiosa and Nicholas Hoult as Nux. Hugh Keays-Byrne joins them as Immortan Joe with Rosie Huntington-Whiteley as The Splendid Angharad, Nathan Jones as Rictus Erectus, Riley Keough as Capable, Zoë Kravitz as Toast the Knowing, Abbey Lee as The Dag, and Courtney Eaton as Cheedo the Fragile.
Rated R for intense sequences of violence throughout, and for disturbing images, the film sports a 97% approval rating over on Rotten Tomatoes with a Critics Consensus that reads: With exhilarating action and a surprising amount of narrative heft, Mad Max: Fury Road brings George Miller’s post-apocalyptic franchise roaring vigorously back to life.
