Pennywise Will Appear In SPACE JAM 2

We never thought we’d be covering Space Jam 2 on Dread Central, but a series of photos circulating around the internet reveal that Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King’s It will apparently be appearing in the upcoming Looney Tunes film. These images seem to come from a video shared at the film’s wrap party, so they certainly appear to be legitimate. However, there’s no word on who Pennywise will be played by, but you can see they clearly tried to make him look as much as possible like he did in the two recent It movies, where he was played by Alexander Skarsgård.

It appears as though Warner Bros. have decided to include characters from various separate franchises into Space Jam 2, as the leaked photos also reveal that the Joker, the Mask, and the Wicked Witch of the West will appear in the film, but again, we don’t know who they were played by. However, it looks like they will be playing basketball against the Looney Tunes characters, similar to the role the Monstars played in the original Space Jam movie. We’ve embedded an Instagram post from the dcuverse account with the leaked images below, so you can see them for yourself.

Space Jam 2 was originally going to be directed by Terence Nance, although he left due to creative differences shortly after the start of filming and was replaced by Malcolm D. Lee. Eric Bauza will provide the voices of Bugs Bunny and Daffy Duck in the film, while LeBron James, Don Cheadle, and Sonequa Martin-Green will lead the human cast. The original Space Jam was about the Looney Tunes character being forced to compete in a basketball tournament against the hideous Monstars, and we’re guessing the sequel will go down a similar route, but with Pennywise, the Joker, and other villainous characters forming the team of antagonists. Although Looney Tunes creator Chuck Jones hated this infamous line from the original, it looks like Porky Pig will be wetting his pants again.

Either way, seeing as Warner Bros. are not currently developing a third It movie, fans of the franchise will probably be thankful for another opportunity to see Pennywise the Dancing Clown on the big screen when Space Jam 2 opens on July 16, 2021. Even though he’ll be playing basketball this time instead of killing people.
