Drew Goddard’s directorial debut, The Cabin in the Woods, made him a household name in horror when the film was released in 2012. Though it would be years before his directorial follow-up (Bad Times at the El Royale was released in the Fall of 2018), he’s remained busy the entire time as a writer and producer.

His writing credits include both of the films he directed, plus Cloverfield, World War Z, and The Martian. His television writing credits include Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Alias, and Lost.

Trivia:
Drew Goddard only wrote for cult series Buffy the Vampire Slayer (1997) for one season (the show’s seventh, and final, year) but in that short time, he accumulated a truly staggering number of “minions” in the (notoriously fanatical) on-line Buffy fan community. Websites were set up exclusively to promote Drew, t-shirts were printed (in English and Swedish) and Drew himself made semi-frequent visits to Buffy websites and message boards.

Drew Goddard was born on February 26th, 1975 and, today, all of us here at Dread Central wish him a very Happy Birthday!
