SILENCE OF THE LAMBS Sequel Series Announced!

Today we’re hearing via Variety that CBS has given the green light to a sequel series based on Thomas Harris’ The Silence of the Lambs called Clarice. The show will, you guessed it, focus on the continuing adventures of Clarice Starling.

More specifically, the series is coming our way from writers and executive producers Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet and is set in 1993, a year after the events of The Silence of the Lambs. The show is described as a deep dive into the untold personal story of Starling as she returns to the field to pursue serial murderers and sexual predators while navigating the high stakes political world of Washington, D.C.

Kurtzman and Lumet said: “After more than 20 years of silence, we’re privileged to give voice to one of America’s most enduring heroes – Clarice Starling. Clarice’s bravery and complexity have always lit the way, even as her personal story remained in the dark. But hers is the very story we need today: her struggle, her resilience, her victory. Her time is now, and always.”

Jodie Foster starred in the original film as Clarice Starling, a top student at the FBI’s training academy. Jack Crawford (Scott Glenn) wants Clarice to interview Dr. Hannibal Lecter (Anthony Hopkins), a brilliant psychiatrist who is also a violent psychopath, serving life behind bars for various acts of murder and cannibalism. Crawford believes that Lecter may have insight into a case and that Starling, as an attractive young woman, maybe just the bait to draw him out.
