This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Laurie Holden

Born on this day in 1969: Laurie Holden

Holden was born to be an actress. Both her parents were actors; her stepfather was an Academy Award-nominated director, and her grandmother played the titular role in Dracula’s Daughter.

Holden is best known for her role as Andrea in The Walking Dead. One of the first survivors we meet, Andrea befriends Michonne and falls in love with the Governor – until that goes south and he kills her. In addition to her role on The Walking Dead, Holden played Marita Covarrubias in The X-Files, a secretive government attaché who becomes an informant for Agent Mulder after she is infected by the Black Oil.

On the big screen, Holden played Cybil Bennett, a cop with a tragic ending in Silent Hill; Amanda Dumfries, a school teacher in The Mist, based on the novel by Stephen King; and Mrs. Reyes, a single mother whose daughter sends a demon to kill her in Pyewacket.
