DOCTOR SLEEP Director Would Love to Make Abra-Centric THE SHINING 3

The Haunting of Hill House and Hush director Mike Flanagan’s adaptation of Stephen King’s Doctor Sleep aka The Shining 2, opened last month to underwhelming numbers.

But today we learned that Flanagan would love to work on a third The Shining movie with Abra (Kyliegh Curran) embracing her powers – with a little help from Ewan McGregor’s Dan Torrance.

Flanagan told Den Of Geek:

Absolutely. I would love it. And when I met Stephen King, I asked him, ‘Is there more? Do you have anything else for Abra Stone? Because my God, she’s so great.’ And he left it open. He said that he hadn’t thought about it before, but it was people asking questions like that that made him write Doctor Sleep. He started to really think about Dan.”

The sequel centers on an adult Danny Torrance who is struggling with alcoholism and remains traumatized by the sinister events that occurred at the Overlook Hotel when he was a child.

But Danny’s hope for a peaceful existence soon shatters when he meets a teen who shares his extrasensory gift of the “shine.” Together, they form an unlikely alliance to battle Rose the Hat and the True Knot, a cult whose members try to feed off the shine of innocents to become immortal.

It stars Ewan McGregor, Rebecca Ferguson, Kyliegh Curran, Cliff Curtis, Carl Lumbly, Zahn McClarnon, Jocelin Donahue, Alex Essoe, Jacob Tremblay, Bruce Greenwood, and Henry Thomas.

Doctor Sleep is now playing at a theater near you.
