This Day in Horror: Happy Birthday Jamie Lee Curtis

Born on this day in 1958: Jamie Lee Curtis

One of the first “scream queens;” one of the original “final girls,” Jamie Lee Curtis’ very first role was as the lead in John Carpenter’s original 1978 classic Halloween. She is the face of the Halloween franchise, at least as much as Michael Myers. She continued her role of Laurie Strode in Halloween II; Halloween H20; and Halloween: Resurrection. She returned as Laurie in Halloween (2018) and will appear in the upcoming Halloween Kills and Halloween Ends.

Besides being the queen of Halloween, Curtis has a number of horror movies on her resume: The Fog; Prom Night; Terror Train; and Virus. She had uncredited voiceover roles in both Halloween III: Season of the Witch and Escape from New York. On the small screen, Curtis played Dean Munsch on two seasons of Scream Queens.
