Fantastic Fest in Austin is in its final stretch and, while we aren’t able to review every film we saw this week, we can at least highlight most of them. Climate of the Hunter is a vampiric odyssey into insanity; give the trailer a spin embedded at the top of the article!
Synopsis:
Set in the late 1970s, two middle-aged sisters vie for the affection of a man from their past who may or may not be a vampire.
Writer/director Mickey Reece tells us:
“Stylistically I’ve borrowed from films like Daughters of Darkness, The Passion of Anna, and the late Scott Walker’s eleventh studio album. We shot in the cold ass winter in January 2019 for two weeks in between three different cabins near Tahlequah, OK. Produced by Divide/Conquer (The Wind, Cam) in association with XYZ Films (Mandy, Color Out of Space) and Vision Chaos (Hold The Dark). This is the thematic follow up to Strike, Dear Mistress, and Cure His Heart which premiered at last year’s Fantastic Fest.”
