A cool trailer has dropped that appears to be set in the same woods that corrupted the unsuspecting characters in The Evil Dead. Okay, maybe not the exact same woods, but the upcoming film Hostage has a guy in a cabin struggling for survival against a malevolent spirit. Off to a good start, I say!
Created by screenwriter/director Michael J. Yurinko (Fading), Hostage is currently filming in the Poconos, PA with a release scheduled for later this year. It’s the story of a man battling his personal demons while snowbound inside his home. Kinda like The Shining, but on a smaller scale. Holt Boggs (The Prodigy) stars with George Katt (Valley of Angels). Additional filming will occur in Scranton and Bangor, PA as well as Los Angeles, CA.
Producer Robert Gordon Spencer (Romero’s Deadtime Stories Vol. 1) said, “Explorative and dynamic have been the two concepts or requirements I’ve focused on while providing feedback for the script as it was written and while we started filming. The key is getting the best out of everyone and putting all of it on film!” He continued, “If you can’t handle ‘scared’, go to the next theater; some of our own crew as well as myself could not help looking over our shoulders during filming. Just standing in the home we are filming in is very creepy.”
