Nevada’s Infamous Clown Motel is the Star of Its Own Horror Movie

Fans of horror and Americana have known about The Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada for ages. The proprietors have taken their clown-theme to unnerving heights; the exterior, lobby, and every room is stuffed full of clowns and related memorabilia. Also, there’s a graveyard right across the street.

No doubt, someone stopped over and thought, “You know, this is the perfect place to shoot a horror movie.” Well, someone did more than just think it. Now, Clown Hotel is slated to arrive on DVD June 4th.

The trailer, embedded at the top of the article, looks like pure camp cheesiness. It’s worth noting, however, that the film includes some minor horror royalty. Ari Lehman played young Jason Voorhees in the very first Friday the 13th and Tony Moran played Michael Myers unmasked in John Carpenter’s Halloween. In Clown Motel, each actor plays a sadistic clown (obviously)! Of course, the motel itself is the real villain, in my opinion; you couldn’t pay me enough to stay the night in that place!

Synopsis:
“Clown Motel follows a group of ghost hunters returning home from Las Vegas. When they arrive at the Clown Motel, they’re left to discover if it is really abandoned and haunted by the souls of the clowns that once lived there.”

Clown Motel is written and directed by Joseph Kelly.
