Screenwriter Jeff Buhler (PET SEMATARY, GRUDGE) is Joining Our Free “Last Chance” Screening of THE PRODIGY in LA on Friday!

Regular readers of Dread Central have already been informed that we’re throwing one of our infamous “Last Chance” DreadVision screening of The Prodigy in Los Angeles this Friday. (“Last Chance” refers a final opportunity to see a film as it was meant to be experienced: On a big screen in an actual theater). Director Nicholas McCarthy was already confirmed to attend in order to participate in a Q&A immediately following the show, but today, we’re thrilled to announce that screenwriter Jeff Buhler will also be in the house!

In addition to The Prodigy, Buhler is also the scribe behind the latest adaptation of Pet Sematary, plus The Midnight Meat Train, the unreleased Jacob’s Ladder remake, and the upcoming Grudge reboot. In other words, he’s a rising star you won’t want to miss meeting!

(L-R) Nicholas McCarthy, Jackson Robert Scott, and Jeff Buhler

The Prodigy is absolutely one of the best horror movies of 2019 so far, and I’m excited to discuss it with McCarthy and Buhler. Without giving anything away, it’s probably not what you’d expect after watching the trailer (below). What appears to be a reimagining of The Bad Seed is something else entirely–something that absolutely took me by surprise. It’s an engrossing and nerve-shredding horror movie that I can genuinely recommend.

The “Last Chance” screening of The Prodigy is happening this Friday, May 10th at 7 pm at Hollywood’s swanky Arena Cinelounge Sunset (6464 Sunset Boulevard; 323-924-1644). It’s free and you can RSVP, HERE.

Synopsis:
Sarah and John Blume are thrilled when their young son Miles starts to show signs of rapid development and extreme intelligence. Their family bliss soon turns into a living nightmare when Miles’ behavior becomes increasingly erratic and violent by his eighth birthday. After seeking help from two experts, Sarah is horrified to learn that her beloved prodigy may be under the grip of a dark and supernatural force.

The Prodigy stars Jackson Robert Scott, Taylor Schilling, and Peter Mooney.
