2019 is a year of significant sophomore releases from some of today’s rising stars in horror, but don’t expect a slump. Jordan Peele’s Us (his follow-up to Get Out) was a huge hit, and anticipation is high for Ari Aster’s Midsommar (his follow-up to Hereditary). Today, we’re getting our first look at The Witch director Robert Eggers’ sophomore feature: The Lighthouse! The film will enjoy its world premiere at Cannes next month.
Shot on 35mm black and white stock, there’s something immediately unsettling about it. Check out stars Robert Pattinson and Willem Dafoe below.
Synopsis:
The Lighthouse tells the story of an aging lighthouse keeper named Old who lives in early 20th-century Maine.
