Popcorn Frights Aligns With Gunpowder & Sky’s Short Film Brand ALTER

Florida’s premier horror film festival Popcorn Frights has announced that it has aligned with Gunpowder & Sky’s recent horror brand ALTER, which showcases “novel stories exploring the human condition through warped perspectives.” What does this mean for short film creators? Films that screen at Popcorn Frights will then be eligible for review for potential distribution on the platform.

“Expanding our short film program into a competition featuring distribution potential is a great way for Popcorn Frights to both deepen and expand our relationships with the most exciting new talents in independent cinema. Knowing the struggle that all unrepresented filmmakers face to get their short films noticed, our partnership with ALTER will champion the discovery of emerging international voices we have at the Festival,” said Festival Directors Igor Shteyrenberg & Marc Ferman.

Popcorn Frights will take place August 8-15, 2019 in Ft. Lauderdale at the landmark Savor Cinema, a state-of-the-art theater which was originally built as a Methodist Church in the 1940s. The fest is currently taking submissions for films for this year’s event. To submit your project, head on over to Film Freeway.
