(Terrible) Poster for (Questionable) Sequel to Original I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE

Since its release in 1978, I Spit on Your Grave aka Day of the Woman (written, directed, and produced by Meir Zarchi) has gone from being regarded as trash exploitation to a bold and subversive call for female empowerment. While the film has been remade several times I Spit on Your Grave: Déjà Vu (arriving April 23rd) is a direct sequel to the original with Zarchi back in the driver’s seat as writer, director, and producer.
Yes, it takes place 40 years later and features Camille Keaton reprising her role as Jennifer Hills from 1978’s I Spit on Your Grave. Producers have just dropped a poster for the film and, to be honest, we’re not loving it. Actually, a lot about the film has us shaking our heads, but judgment must be withheld until the film has actually been released.
Still, the trailer and synopsis feel like a bit of a betrayal to the spirit of the original. But with Zarchi leading the charge on I Spit on Your Grave: Déjà Vu, he should be allowed to steer the film’s legacy in whatever direction he deems appropriate. Who are we to complain?

In addition to Keaton, I Spit on Your Grave: Déjà Vu stars Jamie Bernadette, Jim Tavaré, and Maria Olsen.
