Art Has Never Been as Vicious as in VELVET BUZZSAW

There’s a long-held discussion about the value of art and how it should be appreciated. Is it something where we must abide by the artist’s intent? Or is it a situation where, once it goes out into the world, we must accept what people make of it? It’s a philosophical discussion with merits on both sides and there’s probably a middle ground that many people can agree on, although it’s completely individualistic.
All of this is to set the stage for Netflix’s upcoming horror/thriller Velvet Buzzsaw, where cursed art can quite literally come alive and murder those it sees fit. Interestingly enough, the trailer (watch above) also makes it seems like each of these murders will become a work of art themselves.

Written and directed by Dan Gilroy, Velvet Buzzsaw stars Jake Gyllenhaal, Rene Russo, Toni Collette, Zawe Ashton, Tom Sturridge, Natalia Dyer, Daveed Diggs, Billy Magnussen, and John Malkovich.
Velvet Buzzsaw hits Netflix on February 1.
