Feature Film Begins Production in January but is CRITTERS TV Series Still in the Works?

Three days ago, we were thrilled to announce that a reboot of the cheesy 1980s franchise Critters was in the works at Syfy, set to begin filming in South Africa next month. It was especially good news since a proposed TV series reimagining in the works at Verizon had been canceled following the company’s decision to abandon their proposed video streaming platform go90—or has it?

One of our favorite UK film critics/videographers, Mr. H has unearthed some perplexing evidence that suggests to TV series, dubbed Critters: The New Binge is still in production. He’s identified a slew of new images from a fan site, including a Critters ball and a catapult! Clearly, something is happening here, we’re just not sure exactly what.

The quality of the props makes it difficult to imagine these are faked. Still, we don’t know anything concrete about The New Binge at this point. Is Verizon still producing the project for another platform? Is the film going to use the proposed TV series as a jumping-off point? Are the canceled TV series and recently announced project affiliated at all?
