Exclusive: The Long-Awaited NAILBITER Sequel Has Begun Pre-Production

Award-winning filmmaker Patrick Rea (Nailbiter, Arbor Demon, Justice Served) has announced the start of pre-production on a sequel to the 2013 horror film Nailbiter, tentatively titled Nailbiter: The Storm Children

The 2013 feature focused on a group of women (a mother and three daughters), who are en route to the airport for a pickup. A twister rises up, causing the four women to take shelter within the basement of a farmhouse. As they hold tight until the storm passes, they must deal with those who live above in the farmhouse and survive a creature that roams the property looking to get inside. Nailbiter was released by Lionsgate/Grindstone and is currently available on iTunes, Vudu, Google Play, and Amazon Prime.

Rea describes the Nailbiter sequel by telling us, “In the sequel, a brother and sister are forced to return to their small town to rescue a group of children from the shape-shifting occupants before a storm hits.  Once inside the town, the siblings find themselves on a collision course with Jennifer Maguire, the lone human survivor of the previous film.”

The film plans to shoot in the Kansas City area in the spring of 2019.  Rea is back behind the camera, with Meg Saricks returning to the cast along with newcomers Matthew J. Lindblom and Ana Plumberg. Rea is an award-winning filmmaker with 60 credits of short films, features, and anthologies.

Currently, the film is accepting donations through the 501c3 organization Kansas City Women in Film and Television. Donations are tax deductible. We will keep you updated on the next chapter of this production.
