Unused Concept Art for Shane Black’s THE PREDATOR Reveals Hideous Human Hybrid

Over the past few days, we’ve shared some amazing concept art used during the pre-production stage of Shane Black’s The Predator but were ultimately cut from the script. We’ve seen Predator/monkey hybrids and even what looked like an amalgamation of a Predator, an alligator, and a spider! Today brings us something more familiar, but no less terrifying: A Predator/human hybrid!

Shared by artist Ken Barthelmey, this design was considered for the “Upgrade Predator”, a hunter created through hybridization who towered over anything we’d previously seen. While the character was arresting in Black’s movie, the unused design by Barthelmey is a whole different kind of terrifying. This sucker kind of reminds me of the Ripley/Xenomorph hybrid was saw at the conclusion of Alien: Resurrection.

Have a look below, followed by the synopsis and trailer for The Predator.

Black directed The Predator from a screenplay penned by Fred Dekker; the film’s sizable ensemble cast includes Boyd Holbrook, Trevante Rhodes, Jacob Tremblay, and Olivia Munn. Look for it on Blu-ray/DVD beginning December 18th. If you didn’t catch The Predator when it was in theaters, check out the synopsis and trailer below.

Synopsis:
From the outer reaches of space to the small-town streets of suburbia, the hunt comes home. The universe’s most lethal hunters are stronger, smarter and deadlier than ever before, having genetically upgraded themselves with DNA from other species. When a boy accidentally triggers their return to Earth, only a ragtag crew of ex-soldiers and an evolutionary biologist can prevent the end of the human race.

What do you think of KenBarthelmey’s unused concept art for the “Upgrade Predator” hybrid design cut from The Predator? Do you think this sucker would have been scarier than the giant we see in the movies? Sound off in the comments below or on Facebook, Twitter, and/or Instagram!
