Fans of (Fake) Heavy Metal Icons Rejoice: SPINAL TAP is Reuniting for One Night Only

In the early 1980s, the hard rocking band Spinal Tap (comprised of Nigel Tufnel, David St. Hubbins and Derek Smalls) epitomize an era of vice and excess. Unabashedly sexual and bold enough to experiment with a variety of styles, the band’s history is a litany of controversy, infighting, and a long line of dead drummers. Spinal Tap was also, of course, completely fictional; they’re the subject of Rob Reiner’s mockumentary (which actually coined the term “rockumentary”) This is Spinal Tap, released in 1984.

Still, the actors who wore the cucumber-stuffed spandex pants (Christopher Guest, Michael McKean, and Harry Shearer) are reuniting for one-night-only to thrill fans with hits like “Big Bottoms”, “Sex Farm”, “Bitch School”, “Clam Caravan”, and “Stonehenge”! It’s part of next year’s Tribeca Film Festival running April 24th through May 5th, 2019, and the event will culminate in a sit-down with Reiner where the quartet will likely discuss the film’s 30-year legacy.
