Rogue Resides in Last House
Rogue Pictures has officially picked up the remake of Wes Craven’s seminal classic The Last House on the Left with plans to distribute it worldwide.
I guess if it has to be done, and it’s been in talks for so long that I suppose it does, it feels all right that a mini major like Rogue is behind it. Wes Craven and Marianne Maddalena will produce the remake, which was last in the directorial hands of David Moreau and Xavier Pauld. I’m sure the duo’s name doesn’t ring any bells yet, but they did helm a little movie called Ils (Them) that was a big hit at this year’s Fantasia. Check out the review right here.
Variety made no mention of any directors in place, so likely it’s all still in the signing stages. They also said that pretty much every Craven film ever made is in one form or another of remake including Shocker and People Under the Stairs. I’m not sure if that makes me sad or not, but I do know that a remake of Last House is going to take some balls. I hope Rogue’s got ’em.
