Did Netflix Pay Paramount $50 Million for The Cloverfield Paradox?!

Talk about a f*cking paradox… Har, har.

Recently we were hit with the massive triple-whammy that Netflix had not only snagged up the rights to Cloverfield 3, but they had renamed it The Cloverfield Paradox (review) and set it to premiere the night of the Super Bowl.

Crazy shite, amiright?

Well, if that news made your horror-head spin around, today we have news that will make you shake that same head in disbelief. Maybe. Evidently, THR is reporting that Netflix bought the rights to the new Cloverfield film from Paramount for a staggering $50 million! Yikes.

I guess that number makes sense… being that the film reportedly cost $40+ million. So Paramount just made their money back, but does Netflix really need such a “big” movie?

Look at me. Pondering Netflix’s business practices. Jeez. Like they don’t know what they’re doing. Come on, Mike.

The film is directed by Julius Onah from a screenplay by Oren Uziel and Doug Jung and stars David Oyelowo, Ziyi Zhang, Elizabeth Debicki, Daniel Brühl, and Chris O’Dowd.

The film is now streaming on Netflix.

Synopsis:
Astronauts must fight for their lives after making a terrifying discovery in outer space.
