Survival horror, when done right like Open Water, Frozen, and Buried, results in a visceral, harrowing experience. Which is why we’re keeping a close eye on writer/director Jennifer Still’s Canyon Road. Read on for the early details, some artwork, and a teaser trailer for the promising new film.

In this original film starring Roxanne Jaeckel and Ivan Lovegren, a young couple trapped in a failing marriage is unexpectedly buried under a mudslide on Malibu Canyon Road. Air running out. Roof collapsing. Water rising. Rescue uncertain. – Can they survive?

Canyon Road will include the world premiere of the new song “Next Time We’ll Shine” by Michael Bluestein, keyboardist/backing vocals for Foreigner. A music video is under way to be released as part of the Canyon Road experience.

The film was produced by Sheri Reeves and is the second feature collaboration between Calix Lewis Reneau (co-director and co-writer of the script with Still) and executive producer Len McLeod of Dark Sky Pictures. They are aiming for a spring 2012 release.
