Joe Lynch’s Mayhem Surrenders R Rating; Will Be Released Unrated

Earlier this weekend we shared the blood-soaked trailer for director Joe Lynch’s newest action-horror hybrid Mayhem (review); and if the trailer didn’t give you somewhat of a clue, the film is bloody. And violent. Like, a lot.

With this in mind, it makes sense the filmmakers have decided to bypass the MPAA and hit the public unrated.

According to Film Ratings, this is after the film was originally slapped with an R rating by the MPAA for “bloody violence, pervasive language, some sexuality/nudity and drug use.”

But I guess even all that wasn’t enough for the filmmakers. And good for them. Bring on the unrated cut!

Chaos erupts throughout the office as the victims of the disease begin acting out their wildest impulses.

Joining forces with a former client (Samara Weaving, “Ash vs. Evil Dead”) who has a grudge of her own, Derek savagely fights tooth and nail to get to the executives on the top floor and settle the score once and for all.
