We have some sad news to share this weekend as actor John Heard passed away yesterday, July 21st, at age 72. Although best known of course as the dad in Home Alone, Heard did grace the horror genre several times.
He most recently appeared in such genre projects as Would You Rather, Sharknado, “The Lizzie Bordon Chronicles,” and Witches Blood; and earlier in his career he had roles in C.H.U.D., “Tales from the Darkside,” “The Outer Limits,” and Paul Schrader’s Cat People.
Per TMZ, Heard, born March 7, 1945, had “minor back surgery” Wednesday at Stanford Medical Center and was staying in a hotel while he recovered. He was found dead in the hotel by maid service, according to family sources.
