We’re beyond excited to have teamed up with Mindless Self Indulgence frontman Jimmy Urine to bring you an exclusive first listen of “Salome,” a track from Urine’s upcoming solo album, The Secret Cinematic Sounds of Jimmy Urine.

Having listened to the full album for a few weeks now, this track in particular stood out to me as being something truly special. It’s absolutely gorgeous and evokes strong feelings of 80’s nostalgia. I can’t place my finger on why, but it reminds me of the 1988 black comedy Heathers while also calling to mind images of teens sunbathing next to a lake in an almost dreamlike reverie… all before getting slashed to pieces.

Check out the track below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments.

You can pre-order The Secret Cinematic Sounds of Jimmy Urine right here through one of four different methods. The album comes out April 28th.

Urine tells Dread Central:

The Secret Cinematic Sounds of Jimmy Urine has a very throwback 80’s synth soundtrack sound — but some of the tracks on this record were actually written when I was 13 or 14 on old Sequential Circuits synthesizers. “Salome” is one of those songs; it was written in 1983. I found the original cassette demo and re-pieced it together using the original synthesizers I had as a kid, almost exactly note-for-note but with a higher quality on modern equipment. But this song is literally 13-year-old Jimmy Urine on a Sequential Circuits MultiTrak coming up with those beautiful melodies. So some of the songs on this record don’t just sound like the 80’s; they literally ARE from the 1980’s!
