Described as having a tone similar to both Gone Girl and The Girl on the Train, Swedish author Camilla Grebe’s bestseller The Ice Beneath Her has garnered rave reviews, so it was only a matter of time before Hollywood came knocking. And though the book hasn’t yet hit the States, an adaptation is already in motion.

Per Deadline, New Line Cinema has acquired the film rights to the 2015 novel, with Andrew Lazar (American Sniper) attached to produce the psychological thriller.

The Ice Beneath Her revolves around an investigator and psychological profiler who work to solve the case after a young woman is found beheaded in the home of a prominent businessman. The investigation quickly evolves into a race against time.

The novel will be released in December in North America via Ballantine Books.
