Latest Buppha Rahtree Movie Brings the Haunting to Japan

Although it may not be well-known in the wWst, the Buppha Rahtree series could possibly be the most recognizable and popular horror franchise from Thailand. The original ghost film was released over there in 2003 (we gave it a positive review back in the day) and spawned a bunch of sequels, with director Yuthlert Sippapak returning for each.

The latest is Buppha Rahtree: Haunting In Japan, which takes the series to the Land of the Rising Sun. It follows a Thai band who head over there for a music video shoot, only to (surprise) be menaced by ghosts.

The trailer’s helpfully got English subtitles, and it looks so damn funny and OTT that I wish that all the cheerless American ghost films like The Conjuring would learn from it.
