There’s a very good possibility that a sequel to Zombieland is soon headed our way, as Sony is actively developing the return of Tallahassee, Columbus, and the gang. That news came courtesy of writer Rhett Rheese last week, and now star Jesse Eisenberg has some things to say about the follow-up.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Eisenberg stressed the importance of a great script.

It’d be wonderful to do,” said the actor. “I know they’ve been trying to do it for a while, and I know they’re trying to figure out exactly what will occur in it. But it’s a kind of movie that, as soon as it came out, seemed appropriate to generate a sequel. It takes place in this odd, created world and features an ensemble of interesting characters that it’d be curious to see more of.

I would hope that it happens, and I’m sure everybody would be happy to do it if it happens and it’s good,” he continued. “It’s also a strangely beloved movie, so it’s a thing you have to get right. Some sequels you don’t have to get exactly right, but this is the kind of movie you have to get right because people like it for personal reasons, even though it’s a zombie comedy.”

In 2009’s Zombieland, a shy student trying to reach his family in Ohio, a gun-toting tough guy trying to find the last Twinkie, and a pair of sisters trying to get to an amusement park join forces to travel across a zombie-filled America.

More on this developing story as we learn it.

Jesse Eisenberg stars in Columbia Pictures' comedy ZOMBIELAND.
