Filming is set to begin next month on Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant, which will be a sequel to Prometheus that also serves as a prequel to the original Alien. It’s the second in a trilogy of films leading directly into the 1979 classic, and we’ve got the latest casting news today. Read on!

Per Deadline, Jussie Smollett (“Empire”), Amy Seimetz (Upstream Color), Carmen Ejogo (Selma), and Callie Hernandez (Machete Kills) have all signed on for active duty. The previously announced cast also includes Michael Fassbender, Katherine Waterston, Demian Bichir, and Danny McBride.

As for Noomi Rapace, we’re still unsure if she’ll be returning.

Specific plot details for the new film are being closely guarded, but it is believed to follow the crew of the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet, who discover what they believe is an uncharted paradise but is, in fact, a dark, dangerous world, the only inhabitant of which is David (Fassbender), the “synthetic” and survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.

The film is set for release on October 6, 2017.
